Generic Work Order Template - Overview

A flexible, all-purpose request template for tracking any task tied to your equipment.

What it's for

Your business is unique, and so are the needs. The generic Work Order template is a flexible option for any other task you want to track against your equipment. Use this as a starting point for everything from calibration and inspection, to procurement and disposal to change orders.

What's included by default

  • Default fields: Location, Description
  • Can reference: Items, Kits, Reservations, Check-outs
  • Priority levels: High, Medium, Low (Low is the default)

Customizing it

Because this template is meant to be a blank slate, it's worth spending a little extra time in Settings adding the custom fields your team actually needs before rolling it out.

Getting started

Once your workspace has opted in to the Work Order trial, this template appears automatically in your account in Settings -> Work Order Types. Start here to set work order name and icon, set default priorities, and which system fields to include.

Next step is to add custom fields. This is additional information that is meaningful for your operations users to perform their work. What needs done? Who is requesting it? Is there a check-list of items that should be performed?

Finally, add colored labels for organization and configure PDF templates. Templates can be used for compiling information, gathering information, and generating documentation to send to other systems.
