Resolving Discrepancies in RFID-Powered Spotchecks
What to do when an RFID scan shows a discrepancy
Spotchecks are a great way to verify your inventory, but what should you do when an RFID scan shows a discrepancy?
- Re-scan the Area: The most common reason for a discrepancy is a missed item. Before taking any other action, perform a second, more thorough scan of the entire area. Move items around to ensure you can scan tags that were previously hidden.
- Check the "Missing" Item's History: If an item is still showing as missing from a Location-level Spotcheck, check its history in Cheqroom. Is it currently checked out on a booking? Was it recently moved to a different location? The item's activity log can often provide clues.
- Physical Search: If you still can't find the item, a manual, physical search is the next step. Sometimes an item may have been placed in an unexpected spot.
- Flag the Item: If you have exhausted all other options and cannot locate the item, you can flag it as missing. This updates its status in Cheqroom and alerts your team to the discrepancy.
- Train Your Team: Prevent future discrepancies by ensuring everyone on your team understands the importance of scanning items accurately and updating their location in Cheqroom.
